A flatbed carries the entire vehicle clear of the road rather than dragging it along on two wheels. For a large share of the vehicles we move, that is not a preference — it is the only method that does not risk damage. Our flatbed recovery service covers the south-east Colombo corridor around the clock.

Vehicles that need a flatbed

Why it protects the vehicle

Towing a car on its own wheels means its gearbox, bearings and tyres are all working while the engine is not. On many modern vehicles, particularly all-wheel-drive ones, that alone can cause real damage over any distance. Add a wheel that will not turn and you are grinding a flat spot into a tyre at best. A flatbed removes all of it — nothing on the vehicle is moving, so nothing on it is wearing.

Access is the trade-off

The one thing a flatbed cannot always do is fit. A narrow lane, a basement car park with a low ceiling or a tight service yard may simply not accommodate one, in which case a wheel-lift extracts the vehicle to a point where it can be transferred. Tell us where the vehicle is standing when you call and we will work out the approach before we arrive rather than after.

Loading a damaged vehicle

How a damaged vehicle is winched onto the bed matters. Pulling on a bumper, a control arm or a body panel because it is the easiest thing to reach is how a repairable car becomes a structural job. We use proper recovery points, and where none are usable we use straps rated for the load rather than whatever is on the truck.

Modified and lowered vehicles

Lowered suspension, deep front lips and aftermarket body kits all reduce approach angle, and a flatbed’s ramp is steeper than it looks. On a significantly lowered car the ramp itself can catch the front bumper before the wheels are even on it. The answer is ramp extensions or boards, and it is entirely routine — but only if we know before we arrive. If your car is lowered, say so when you call. It is the single most common reason a flatbed job takes longer than it should.

Auction, import and non-running vehicles

A large share of flatbed work has nothing to do with breakdowns: vehicles coming out of an auction yard or off an import, project cars being moved between workshops, and vehicles that have sat unused long enough that the brakes have seized. These are straightforward jobs when planned, because the vehicle is stationary and safe. Tell us whether it rolls, steers and brakes, and whether there is a key, and we will bring the winch setup that suits.

Flatbed coverage

Across the south-east Colombo corridor twenty-four hours a day, and onward to anywhere in Sri Lanka for longer transports.

What decides the price

Towing is never one flat number. Here is exactly what we ask about, so you know what the quote is based on.

Tell us the vehicle, where it is and what happened. You get a clear price on the phone before a truck rolls, and you approve it before we start.
