Most towing operators are set up for cars and treat a motorcycle as an afterthought. That is how bikes arrive with bent levers, scratched tanks and damaged fairings. Our motorcycle towing service across the south-east Colombo corridor treats the bike as the job rather than a small version of a car.
Bikes we move
Commuter motorcycles, scooters, larger sports and touring bikes, and modified machines. The heavier and the more expensive the bike, the more the loading method matters — a sports bike with fairings has very few places you can safely strap to, and using the wrong ones is how damage happens.
How a bike should be secured
A motorcycle should be loaded upright, supported so it cannot fall, and tied down through points that can take the load — not through brake lines, not over a fairing, and not by looping a strap around whatever is convenient. Suspension should be compressed enough that the bike cannot bounce loose, but not so much that the forks are damaged in transit. If you have a paddock stand or a front wheel chock, mention it when you call.
Common reasons bikes get towed
- Will not start and cannot be push-started
- Chain snapped or come off
- Accident damage making it unrideable
- Flat tyre with no repair option nearby
- Clutch or gearbox failure
- Moving a project or non-running bike between locations
Do not ride it if it is unsafe
The temptation with a bike is always to limp it home, because it feels more possible than in a car. With a damaged frame, a failing chain or compromised brakes, it is considerably more dangerous. If something structural has failed, get it towed.
Why bikes get damaged in transit
A motorcycle has almost no structure designed to be pulled against. The obvious-looking places to attach a strap — handlebars, levers, fairing brackets, exhaust — are precisely the ones that bend, snap or scratch under load. Damage in transit is almost always caused by an operator treating the bike as a small car rather than as a machine that needs to be held upright and compressed at the right points. If your bike is worth anything to you, ask how it will be secured before it goes on the truck.
Moving a bike you are buying or selling
A good share of our motorcycle work is not breakdowns at all — it is moving a bike that is being bought, sold, restored or stored, often one that has not run in years. Those jobs are easier to plan and cheaper than an emergency call, because we can schedule them. If the bike does not roll or steer, say so when you book: a bike with a seized engine or a locked front wheel needs a different loading method from one that simply will not start.
Motorcycle towing coverage
Across the south-east Colombo corridor around the clock — Maharagama, Nugegoda, Pannipitiya, Kottawa, Piliyandala, Malabe, Battaramulla, Dehiwala and the towns between them.
What decides the price
Towing is never one flat number. Here is exactly what we ask about, so you know what the quote is based on.
- Distance — How far we travel to reach you, and how far the vehicle then has to go.
- Vehicle type — A hatchback, an SUV, a van and a motorcycle are four different jobs with different equipment.
- Condition — Rolling on all four wheels is simple. Seized wheels, no gearbox or accident damage need a flatbed or a winch.
- Access and time — A clear main road at noon is not the same as a narrow lane, a basement car park or a ditch at 3am.
Tell us the vehicle, where it is and what happened. You get a clear price on the phone before a truck rolls, and you approve it before we start.
